Hustle!!

The other night, I went with my friend Erin to a workout class called Hustle. It reminds me in a way like Zumba, but is all hip hop moves!! Totally my thing!! For a while, I've been thinking about becoming an instructor for Zumba, but after doing Hustle, I am totally hooked with it and it's a class where you can get certified to teach!! I talked with the instructor after class and she told me all about the training and the other two classes you can teach which is Piyo and Turbo kick. Those would be fun, which I think eventually I would like to do, but Hustle would be my first choice!! Unfortunately, the Hustle training in Utah will be the same day as my Tough Mudder :( but the instructor told me that they will have more training classes to come!! I am just so pumped to do it!! Here is a little video to show ya what it's all about!!!

Oh, The joys of home ownership!!!

Our lovely home has been a lot of work for us lately. Being an older house, we knew we'd have to do upkeeps more often, but with our luck, they wanted to come all at once for us!! First off, our basement bathroom flooded about a month ago. We first thought there was a leak in a pipe from the upstairs bathroom, but come to find out, Haiden decided it would be fun to flush a bunch of baby wipes down the toilet upstairs which clogged it and the suction thing that holds the toilet down, unattached and that is where all the water was coming down to the bathroom downstairs, causing the wall and ceiling to seep with water. It was bad!! Douglas knocked down the ceiling, and all at once TONS of water poured down!! SO GROSS!!! After 5 hours of clean up, getting the clog fixed, and Douglas redoing the sheet rock, we just now need someone to come mud and tape the ceiling and wall for us to repaint. Now, onto the next project. About 6 months after moving in, Mekenzie's bedroom had a leak which we thought we had fixed since all winter we had no issues, but during Conference weekend when we had that really bad snow storm, the leak came back, but was worse! So, like the bathroom, Douglas knocked down the ceiling where the leak was, and tried to find where the leak was coming from. He couldn't find it, His dad came and tried finding it, but it still was leaking from the the rain storms we've had. Luckily, just a couple days ago, Douglas was able to find where it was coming from!! Hallelujah!!!! So, now we just need to put sheet rock up and get it mudded and taped as well. At least it's given us a reason to paint Mekenzie's room and the bathroom different colors! Then last but not least, during Conference Weekend, our furnace decided to stop working which we had no heat!! It was horrible, especially since it was so cold that weekend!! We just had one small space heater and a heating pad to have under our covers at night!! Our Bishop was able to come over and look at it, since that is what he does for a living, and within 20 minutes, got it fixed for us. Douglas overlooked a part that was not tightened to start the heater up. So happy we didn't have to replace it!! So, as you can see, we have some work ahead of us! It's been a blessing though that we haven't had to pay a penny yet with having extra sheetrock in our garage and helpful neighbors in our ward! Let's just pray that nothing else happens to us for a long time!!!

10 things to smile about Sunday 04/10

I have to be honest. This last week was pretty rough, especially at the beginning. I have had a hard time with myself of not feeling up to par on how I should be as a mother, wife, and individual. I'm quite the perfectionist and feel that I am never doing enough. Having these negative thoughts and feelings really brought me down. With the support of my Husband and some individuals, I was able to get out of that funk and really trying to focus the good in my life. They did help to a point, but what really opened my eyes, and of course ALWAYS does, was performing at Jenny Phillip's fireside. The message she shares is exactly what I needed for myself to remind me of what really is important in this life. I know I'm not going to be perfect and I shouldn't strive on that. I just need to focus one day at a time and see the good all around me as well as in myself. I have so much to give!! Thank You Jenny for this great opportunity to sing and share this amazing gospel. It has brought a wonderful light in my life :) I wanted to share one of the videos that was part of the fireside last night.

Now, on to my 10 things to smile about this last week :)

1. Singing at Jenny Phillip's fireside
2. First day teaching the CTR 7 class
3. Got a 2 hour massage
4. Went to a movie with my cousin Megan

6. Playing games with friends
7. Went to cycling
8. Talked with my friend Sheleena who I haven't seen in years
9. Did really well on my monitors at work

A Future For Tomorrow on Good Things Utah...

A while back, I wrote about a book I had read called "A Future For Tomorrow" about Haley Hatch Freeman who struggled with anorexia and how she conquered her illness. Yesterday, she was on Good Things Utah where not only she talked about the book, but how we as parents can watch for signs with our own children as well as how we ourselves, viewing our own body images, can put in effect on our Kids as well. That really opened my eyes because I am such a critic with myself in pretty much everything and I realized having Mekenzie and even Haiden see the negative things I say about myself can one day have them feel the same way. I pray they don't have the thoughts and feelings that I have had and now have realized that I need to be more positive with myself and show that to them so they can see that upon themselves too. Not sure if that makes sense, but I learned a great lesson from it!! Here's a link to the video if you'd like to watch it! A Future For Tomorrow
